Whats New In 2026 Germany
Germany has become the most preferred study abroad destination for Indian students, and 2026 has brought several changes that directly affect how applications from Kerala are prepared.
dMAT has been introduced. The Digital Master Test is a standardised academic aptitude test developed by G.a.s.t. and introduced by APS India as an additional part of the APS documentation process. It applies to Indian graduates whose bachelor’s degree is in engineering, computer science, IT, commerce, accounting, finance, economics, business or management, and who are applying for a standalone master’s programme from the Summer Semester 2027 intake onwards. Applicants who completed their APS online registration before 29 June 2026 are exempt. As the most experienced German education and visa team in Kerala, we guide students through dMAT preparation and exam registration.
APS remains mandatory. Every Indian applicant must complete academic verification through APS India before a German university application can proceed.
Studienkolleg is now required for most German universities. Students entering after Grade 12 will generally need to complete a foundation year before starting their bachelor’s degree.
All visa categories are now digitalised. Applications are processed through the Consular Services Portal, which changes how documents are submitted and tracked.
